Popcorn Maker

Popcorn Maker

One year, for my birthday, my beloved spouse gave me a standalone popcorn maker cart that was wonderful. It stood in the TV room and the children and grandchildren would have popcorn from the popcorn stand while they pretended to be at the movies! What fun.

Mobile Popcorn Machine

The children were not the only ones who enjoyed it. We would roll that popcorn machine outside for adult parties – or a family gathering around the swimming pool or down by the tennis court. We took that popcorn maker everywhere on the property. It was so much fun that it became the favorite center of attenction at every gathering.

The kids would measure the raw popcorn and put into the oil that was heating in the kettle – as the popcorn popped, the spilt lid would lift and the popped popcorn  would spill out from that copper kettle and start filling the glass box that was the top of the stand. The smell of popping corn was everywhere – along with laughter. What great memories that created – for all of us.

Variety of Popcorn Makers

There are so many different types and sizes of popcorn makers; you can have your choice. You can pop corn with hot air (the Air Popper) or in the microwave (yes, there are poppers that you use in the microwave without bags), Mickey Mouse popcorn poppers, the list is endless. But there is so much fun in making your own popcorn –  without the added junk that is in the popcorn microwave bags. You control how much salt and butter is added. And you won’t add preservatives, will you?

Caramel Popcorn

One of my favorite popcorn is caramel popcorn. And it is really easy to make. The simplest is to use a bag of caramels, some butter and milk. Melt the caramels over low heat, add butter (added flavor) and thin with milk to the consistency you want, and then pour it over the popped corn. Be very careful as the caramel is very hot. If you want to add nuts, cereal or marshmallows, it’s all the more fun. Be sure to butter all hands that will be involved with the rolling of popcorn balls or you can simply stir and eat.

Popcorn is an inexpensive treat that is good for all. So, you will enjoy your popcorn maker for many years to come. It’s not a bad gift - a little unusual though, which makes it all the more memorable!
